About Mariann
Based in Germany, born in Belarus—Mariann is an ambitious young vocalist steadily carving her way into the heart of the European jazz scene. Her music reflects the life she’s lived so far: full of movement, emotion, and a blend of cultures and sounds. Whether it’s a raw lyric or a flowing melody, everything she creates comes from a real place—and that’s what gives her work its unique, unmistakable voice. Music has always been part of her world. She began with classical training, but soon found herself drawn to jazz and popular music, where she could explore more freedom and expression. At 15, she began studying choir conducting, and just a few years later, she moved to Germany to fully immerse herself in jazz. Now, with three degrees in music under her belt, Mariann works as a vocalist, composer, bandleader, and educator. Along the way, she’s had the chance to work with artists like Norbert Gottschalk, Roger Treece, Torun Eriksen, and Max Mutzke, and has toured across Europe and Asia as a soloist with Jazzchor Freiburg—one of Germany’s most renowned vocal ensembles. Some highlights so far include performances at the Suwon Jazz Festival (KR), Aarhus Vocal Festival (DK), Cantus Firmus (IT), chor.com (DE), and Eurovision Choir (LV); touring Germany with her Lyrical Jazz Project after winning first prize at the Jazz@undesigned competition; and appearing in the live radio concert Campus Jazz for Westdeutscher Rundfunk.
